Most anybody can do it, and if your kids are too small you can have them sit or stand on the front or back of the paddleboard with you while they try their hand at paddling. It is very easy to learn and easy to balance on the board, in 5 minutes you will look like a paddling veteran. We offer Stand up Paddleboard tours, rentals, and paddleboard sales. We have a lot of people ask us if it is easy to balance on the stand up paddleboards. It depends on a few things but usually is only a little tipsy the first five minutes or so. Stand up paddleboarding has a very shallow learning curve so it’s a nice easy sport to pick up. We use nice big 12 foot long boards to make it more stable for the beginner. The bigger the board, the more stable the board is. The lighter the person the more stable the person is. The calmer the water, the more stable the ride. So very few people fall in even on their first try. I would say 90 percent of the people don’t fall off the board, and if they do, it is super easy to get back on. During the instructional tour, we give you tips on how to balance yourself in certain situations like going through boat wake, directions to look to keep stable, paddle positions to aid stableness, and what to do in current to stay on your board. So all in all, yes it is easy to balance on the stand up paddle boards (SUP for short). Most of our customers say that they can’t believe how easy it is, compaired to how hard they thought it was going to be before they tried it.
